Weak Wi-Fi, a bad gateway, DNS trouble, or one remote site with a poor uplink is not hidden behind the server's single point of view.
The server never initiates a connection to an Agent, and Agents need no inbound ports. They work behind NAT, firewalls, and dynamic IPs as long as each Agent can reach its Server.
The self-hosted server stores configuration, metrics, and incidents, while collection permissions and probe-target access remain explicitly controlled.
